A doorway full of antlers.

The Olofssons woke to antlers filling their kitchen doorway. A reindeer had slipped into the narrow entry after fleeing dogs, and every frightened movement shattered another dish.
I made everyone leave by the bedroom window, then waited with the kitchen door wide open. When the dogs went away, the animal followed. We swept the floor in silence, grateful for the broken plates and nothing worse.
