The borrowed boots.

Inga had lent her best boots to a neighbor who returned them with news of a herd trapped beside his house. His family could not get past the animals to reach the road.
I walked upwind and dragged the fallen fence panel aside. The herd streamed through the gap; the family came out through the front. Inga took her boots back with a fresh tear and called it a fair trade.
