Frost at the window.
From the journal of the Wolf of the North · a work of fiction
A first frost kept the Vik family inside until a reindeer struck their front window. The glass cracked; their youngest son was asleep in the room beyond it.
I covered the pane with a heavy shutter and guided the animal out of the cramped garden. The boy slept through the whole affair. His mother said she would tell him when he was older; I hoped she would.
